About

I grew up in central Missouri and will always consider myself a Midwest girl.  I attended nursing school at Columbia College where I obtained my Associates Degree in Nursing Science and my license as a Registered Nurse.  I began my nursing career in Springfield Missouri working at Cox South Hospital in the medical surgical unit. I made the transition later that year to dermatology at Swann Dermatology formerly known as Ozarks Dermatology Specialists.  I assisted in general dermatology, cosmetic dermatology and Mohs Micrographic Surgery.  I was trained to perform injectables such as Botox, Dysport and multiple fillers including Restylane, Radiesse, and Juvederm.  I was also trained to perform laser procedures using Gemini KTP and Smartxide Dot CO2.  I also provided medical grade chemical peels for patients.  This was my introduction to the cosmetic world and I loved it.

I moved to Arizona five years ago and worked as Mohs Micrographic Surgery supervisor at Southwest Skin Specialists for five years.  I left the practice in the Spring of 2017 to pursue starting my own business providing Microblading and skin care.

My interest in Microblading began in 2016 when I started seeing before and after photos on Instagram.  I had overplucked and had a bad wax experience that left me with sparse asymmetrical eyebrows that I was very self-conscious about.  I tried lots of different products but ultimately wasn’t pleased with the results or the time required every day for the application.  I began exploring the Microblading process and artists in Arizona.  I learned that there seemed to be a lot of artists, but with little experience in the medical or cosmetic industry.  Although there was a plethora of photos to see I wasn’t thrilled with the work.  The artists I gravitated to were all in different states and I finally decided to have the procedure done in Denver.  I am so glad I did it!

My aesthetic is less is more.  No one wants to be overdone.  I want to help you feel polished and save you time everyday.  Let’s get you set up!

what is microblading?

Microblading is a semi-permanent procedure where pigment is applied into the superficial dermis around the eyebrows using a fine hand tool.  The purpose is to achieve subtle, crisp, hair like strokes to mimic natural eyebrow hairs which last on average 18 months.  This is different from traditional tattooing in that the application is done by hand versus a machine.  The results with microblading are much more natural than the solid, block-like look of a traditional tattoo.

Microblading is a great option for people who have asymmetrical eyebrows, sporadic growth, and those who have over plucked or waxed.   However, if you are immunocompromised, pregnant or breastfeeding, have a history of keloid scarring, or have a disease process and/or viral infection you may not be a viable candidate the procedure.  Please consult your primary care physician prior to booking your appointment.

what is the process?

The actual procedure takes about two hours in which a topical numbing cream is applied and we work together to determine the desired shape and color prior to beginning the application.  You should expect to feel minor discomfort.  However, everyone's pain threshold is different.  An additional touch up appointment in approximately 6 weeks is required to address shape and color retention based on healing.

Paperwork will be emailed to you after booking with procedure details and directions.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN PERMANENT MAKEUP AND BODY TATTOOING?

Microblading is a form of permanent makeup and generally lasts about 18 months. Permanent makeup is also known as cosmetic tattooing.   The goal of permanent makeup is to enhance your natural features and is meant to be delicate and subtle. In standard body tattooing ink is used while in permanent makeup pigments are used which are formulated for use on the face and diluted so the colors are not as intense. These pigments gently fade over time by design. The fading of the pigment is desired as it allows you to make changes to color and shape over time.  The natural exfoliation of the skin, use of skincare products, certain medical conditions and sun exposure also affect the fading of the pigment.  Another difference is that standard tattooing is done by machine and inserted deeper into the dermal layer of the skin compared to permanent makeup which is done by hand using a fine hand tool and inserted more superficially.
