what is microblading?
Microblading is a semi-permanent procedure where pigment is applied into the superficial dermis around the eyebrows using a fine hand tool. The purpose is to achieve subtle, crisp, hair like strokes to mimic natural eyebrow hairs which last on average 18 months. This is different from traditional tattooing in that the application is done by hand versus a machine. The results with microblading are much more natural than the solid, block-like look of a traditional tattoo.
Microblading is a great option for people who have asymmetrical eyebrows, sporadic growth, and those who have over plucked or waxed. However, if you are immunocompromised, pregnant or breastfeeding, have a history of keloid scarring, or have a disease process and/or viral infection you may not be a viable candidate the procedure. Please consult your primary care physician prior to booking your appointment.
what is the process?
The actual procedure takes about two hours in which a topical numbing cream is applied and we work together to determine the desired shape and color prior to beginning the application. You should expect to feel minor discomfort. However, everyone's pain threshold is different. An additional touch up appointment in approximately 6 weeks is required to address shape and color retention based on healing.
I will contact you prior to your appointment for a phone consultation. Paperwork will be emailed to you after booking with procedure details and directions.
To better prepare you for your procedure we have created a list of things to do and not do prior to your procedure. Please download and review each of these items prior to your appointment. If there are any concerns please contact us.
During the procedure we have created small wounds that require healing. You will be provided with detailed after care instructions prior to and again at the procedure. Following the after care instructions is essential to sustaining your results. You may see different care instructions elsewhere. However, please follow the instructions provided to you as they are specific to the pigments we use. If you have any questions during this process I am available for you.
On average your results will last 18 months. However, this can vary as everyone heals differently.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN PERMANENT MAKEUP AND BODY TATTOOING?
Microblading is a form of permanent makeup and generally lasts about 18 months. Permanent makeup is also known as cosmetic tattooing. The goal of permanent makeup is to enhance your natural features and is meant to be delicate and subtle. In standard body tattooing ink is used while in permanent makeup pigments are used which are formulated for use on the face and diluted so the colors are not as intense. These pigments gently fade over time by design. The fading of the pigment is desired as it allows you to make changes to color and shape over time. The natural exfoliation of the skin, use of skincare products, certain medical conditions and sun exposure also affect the fading of the pigment. Another difference is that standard tattooing is done by machine and inserted deeper into the dermal layer of the skin compared to permanent makeup which is done by hand using a fine hand tool and inserted more superficially.
Current pricing is $400.00 for initial appointment and touchup.
